What2Watch is a web application that helps users decide what to watch next. It allows users to browse a curated list of popular and trending movies, view detailed information about each title, watch trailers and add them to personalized favorites. The app is designed to offer a clean and distraction-free experience for movie lovers looking to organize their watchlists and find reliable recommendations. It also has a blog for pop culture and movie news
Challenge:
Most movie platforms only offer recommendations based on algorithms with no room for user expression or social input. Additionally, users often have to visit multiple websites to find where a film is streaming.
Solution:
We built a platform that:
Allows users to create and share playlists with friends and followers
Shows real-time availability of movies across streaming platforms
Combines social interaction with personalized recommendations
Implements a clean, responsive UI optimized for both mobile and desktop
Supports reviews and discussion, turning film watching into a community experience
4 months of development including UI/UX prototyping, backend integration, API consumption, authentication, testing, and deployment.
The platform has become a centralized space for movie lovers to curate and share watchlists, discover new content, and track streaming platforms — all in one place.
Key achievements:
Streamlined movie discovery across multiple providers
Increased user engagement through playlist sharing and discussions
Positive feedback for intuitive design and "fun, social" experience
Used as a personal catalog by film students, content creators, and everyday users
Built with scalability in mind to support future growth
